StreamSTEP Symposium at SEEP Conference

On 29 July, StreamSTEP hosted the StreamSTEP Symposium as part of the 17th International Conference on Sustainable & Environmental Protection (SEEP), organized by Brunel University and chaired by Prof. Hussam Jouhara.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for StreamSTEP partners to connect in London and engage with the wider research community. The Brunel University campus was alive with discussions, particularly around thermal energy and its role in sustainable industrial processes.

The symposium, chaired by Sarina Bao and Eivind Øvrelid, focused on thermal energy recycling in energy-intensive industries. The session brought together leading researchers, industry experts, and innovators to explore recent breakthroughs, exchange knowledge, and foster collaboration toward more sustainable and efficient industrial practices.

The symposium featured keynote speeches and presentations from StreamSTEP partners representing SINTEF, GEP, RANK, CIRCE, TORRECID, MIW, GFOS, and HALCOR.

Awards and Recognition

We are delighted to share that both Eivind Øvrelid and Sarina Bao (SINTEF) received the Appreciation Award for their outstanding leadership as Symposium Chairs, as well as for delivering an inspiring keynote address.

Additionally, Erika Rodriguez Aleman (Brunel University) was awarded Best Presentation in the symposium. Her presentation was commended for its clarity and scientific rigor, particularly its contribution to advancing low-temperature heat recovery. Erika’s work provided valuable insights into StreamSTEP’s overarching objectives and served as a strong motivation for future research within the project.
