StreamSTEP at the Seville Forum on Machinery for Decarbonization

On 20–21 January, StreamSTEP project partner Universidad de Sevilla organised the Seville Forum on Machinery for Decarbonization (SFMD), chaired by David T. Sánchez Martínez.

The forum brought together representatives from industry, government, and academia to accelerate the development of efficient, carbon-neutral, and cost-effective technologies for electric power and thermal energy production and storage.

In the course of the forum, StreamSTEP project partner, Eduardo de la Rocha Camba (Repsol), presented the end-user perspective on industrial decarbonisation, highlighting the StreamSTEP EU-funded project as a strong example of European collaboration. The presentation showcased how StreamSTEP contributes to energy efficiency, greenhouse-gas emissions reduction, and the objectives of REPowerEU through innovative waste-heat recovery and energy management solutions.

About the Conference

The Seville Forum on Machinery for Decarbonization (SFMD) is a joint industry–government–academia initiative aimed at advancing efficient, carbon-neutral, and cost-effective technologies for the production and storage of electric and thermal energy. The forum provides an open platform for knowledge exchange and networking, bringing together international researchers, industry stakeholders, and end-users.

Participants discussed state-of-the-art technologies, identified technology gaps and research needs, and contributed to shaping future pre-competitive R&D activities and demonstration projects in low-carbon energy and industrial applications. Open discussion sessions also gathered input to help guide future actions by funding institutions.

The 1.5-day event was organised by the University of Seville, with support from partners across industry, academia, and government.

The StreamSTEP consortium would like to thank Universidad de Sevilla and the SFMD organising committee for the excellent organisation of the event.

Special thanks also go to Repsol for presenting the StreamSTEP project and sharing valuable end-user insights on industrial decarbonization.
